Ring Sizing

A very common issue I see on celebrity hands all over tv, in the shopping centres and commonly requested in my workshop are people with rings moving around on peoples fingers and diamond engagement rings not fitting firmly in place on hands. Is it a sign that the ring needs a resize or is it something else..
Some common causes apart from an incorrect finger sizing and naturally swollen joints can be an injury from sport or a fall, extreme temperature or climate differences or a medical condition such as arthritis.
The great thing is there’s a solution in every scenario.
If the finger size is too loose once past the knuckle it still possible to tighten and provide a firm fit using;
1) Small resize beads, small beads, usually of the same material as the ring itself, can be fitted to the inside of the ring at the 8 and 4 o’clock position of the ring. Not only does this help gain the correct finger size, it helps prevent the setting moving around the finger in an unsightly fashion. These resize beads are surprisingly comfortable as well.

2) A resize strip, a strip of metal, again the same material as the ring can be fitted to the inside of your loose ring to allow for an inflamed knuckle or joint, and still slide over your knuckle firmly in place on the finger.

3) Spring strip, a strip of material can be soldered to the inside of the loose ring and spring tensioned so it will hug to the finger after being placed on the finger.

These solutions will certainly help poor ring sizing if you are having trouble gaining the perfect ring size.
Prices for the above alterations start at about $250 in 18ct gold.
